Con Dao district added 3 ancient trees recognized as heritage trees

On March 29th, Con Dao National Park hosted a ceremony to receive the Vietnamese Heritage Tree for 3 ancient trees, including two trees and one red tree.

Accordingly, Vietnam Association for Nature and Environment has awarded the certificate of 3 ancient trees in natural forest - Con Dao National Park is a heritage. Includes: 2 Squash and 1 Red Squash. Of which, 2 Nhoi is a family of oil; a 399-year-old tree, distributed in the area of Ong Dung forest. 3 km from Con Dao center. Base diameter of 3.66 meters; Height about 35 meters. A 382 year old tree, distributed in the area of Ban Ban Mountain. 4 km from Con Dao Center. Base diameter 3.5 meters; Height 35 meters. The red tree of the Bang family, 278 years old; Distributed in Dam Quoc - Hon Ba. The tree has a root diameter of 0.85 meters; Height of 20 meters.

Management of Con Dao National Park said that the event of conservation of Vietnamese heritage trees launched by the Vietnam Association for Nature and Environment Protection in 2010 has been implemented in recent years with many practical results. This activity contributes to preserve biodiversity, environmental landscape, promote economic development, create livelihood for the community and arouse good traditions of Vietnamese people. This event has become a movement of the community, spreading all over the region, in the country, is highly regarded by society.

According to the experts of Vietnam Association for Nature and Environment Protection: the flora of Con Dao is plentiful and diverse (there are more than 880 species of higher plants, including more than 370 species of wood, 30 species of orchids, 103 species of vines, 202 species of plants, etc.); In particular, there are 11 species named by scientists named Con Son naming species.

It is known that soon after the Vietnam Society for Nature and Environment approved and recognized three stocks in the natural forest are Vietnam Heritage Tree, Con Dao National Park Management Board has set beer and information introduction to heritage trees; Route clearance, paving the way to heritage trees for tourism and scientific research; Introduce and introduce 3 heritage trees to the public to attract visitors and scientific researches; Attention to foreign tourists. At the same time, the management board of Con Dao National Park continued to survey, investigate and compile dossiers requesting recognition of trees for heritage in the Con Dao National Park criteria.

It can be said that, together with 79 old trees (including: Bàng, Ði?p Beo, Th? R?ng, ...) are planted on the roads: Ton Duc Thang, Le Duan, Le Van Viet, Nguyen Hue; Phu Hai camp, Phu Son camp and Phi Yen temple of Con Dao district have been recognized by the association and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in recognition of Vietnam Heritage Trees in 2012; The recognition of three more natural trees in Con Dao National Park is the heritage of Vietnam will create more attraction for Con Dao National Park in particular and Con Dao tourism in general; At the same time, raising the responsibility for the community to protect the diversity of genetic resources, protect the environmental landscape and contribute to the economic development of the island district.
