According to the report of Con Dao district People's Committee, in the first 6 months of 2017, industrial production value of the district reached 56.94% of the

plan in 2017 (up 12.55% in the same period of 2016); Total turnover of trade and services reached 60.94% of the plan (up 23.37% the same period).

In investment on development in the first 6 months, Con Dao has mobilized nearly 450 billion investment capital society. Total state budget revenue was estimated at VND 218 billion, of which budget revenue reached VND 27.79 billion, reaching 60.7%.

Tourism sector - which is considered as the strength of the district has been developing well, in which tourism turnover in the first 6 months of 2017 reached 65.52% of the year plan (up 25.4% the same period). The total number of visitors was 109,000, up 25.4% over the same period of 2016 (international visitors is 16,489).

However, according to Vice Chairman of Ba Ria - Vung Tau People 's Committee Nguyen Thanh Long, despite the potential and advantages, there are still barriers that Con Dao tourism has not "taken off" strongly.

The price of airfare to Con Dao is quite high, the frequency of flights is not much, small aircraft should be in the peak season is always passive, tickets are very difficult to find.Therefore, the proposal of the industry to study the expansion of Con Dao airport, stretching the runway to meet the large aircraft; More airlines exploit flights to Con Dao; Additional services such as Da Nang - Con Dao, Hanoi - Con Dao ... are very necessary.

Experts said that in the future, it is possible to attract about 500,000 to 1 million passengers a year to Con Dao if the sea and air transportation systems are developed; In addition there will be many service activities to attract tourists.

Many people come to Con Dao not only for spiritual travel, visiting historical sites but also by other attractive services. Therefore, if there are investors to find out, the district needs to create conditions, creating the most favorable conditions to attract investment.
