Barrow, historical evidence in Con Dao

Around 1930, the French colonialists designed a 60 centimeter wide rail rails from Ban Phuc (now Le Hong Phong Street) to be divided into two branches. One branch to the Rocky Hill at the foot of Mount Lord (now Vo Thi Sau Street). Originally, these barrows were run by small locomotives but only used for a short time.

Then the prisoners had to do the job of pulling these barrows instead of the machine to carry rocks from Mount God to serve the construction works such as historic Pier 914, the road in front of the Con Lon front and other works on the island.
By 1954 the barrow system was no longer in use. At present, Museum Con Dao is the place to save these historic achievements during the past time, tourists can visit and learn more.
