Built in Western style, these rooms were used as houses during the French colonial period
In the American era, in 1960, it was used as an investigating area, including 3 blocks with different functions. There were also solitary confinement rooms and toilets.
The investigating area was a place to keep files and perform interrogations. Prisoners were brought here for interrogation before being sent to any prison camp depending on their level of danger. Prisoners in the camps suspected or noticed of preparing to riot or taking action against jailers, were also brought here for interrogation. If a prisoner proved to be stubborn, they were beaten and put in temporary solitary confinement.
From 1966-1970, the scale of the investigating area was narrowed down to the Investigation Board. After the Paris Agreement in 1973, it was called Residence Zone I.
