2018 National Tourism Year to attract 16 million visitors

Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh provincial People's Committee Vu Thi Thu Thuy made the remark at a press conference on the National Tourism Year 2018 in Hanoi on November 6.

Under the themed ‘Ha Long – Heritage, Wonder – Friendly Destination’, the programme will feature a number of main activities, including the opening and closing ceremonies of the National Year, a cuisine festival, a paragliding competition, a photo contest and a ceremony to announce and present a certificate recognising Cua Ong temple as a national relic site.

Among them, the highlight of the programme will be Canaval Ha Long event organised at Ha Long Park, Ha Long City on April 28.

Besides the ministry and Quang Ninh, 14 other provinces and cities will join hands to organise cultural, sports and tourism events in response to the National Tourism Year 2018.

Addressing the press conference, Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the National Tourism Year is a cultural, economic, social and touristic event on the national and international scale.

She also stressed that the event is not only an important opportunity to introduce and promote tangible and intangible cultural values, tourism resources and tourism products of Vietnam, attract tourists, promote economic development, but is also a meaningful activity for Vietnam to host the ASEAN Tourism Forum in January, 2019.
