Con Dao district commemorates Vietnam’s war invalids and martyrs day

At the ceremony, the district leaders invited 9 bells from the rosary to open the ceremony. Next, the delegation offered gifts, insence and expressed deep gratitude to souls of heroic martyrs and patriots who sacrificed during the capture, elixe in ”Hell on earth " but they still keep the spirit of unyielding struggle.

In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, Mrs. Pham Thi Tam - Head of Con Dao Relics Board read the memorial oration to express the gratitude of the Party, government, army and Con Dao people for the heroic martyrs - excellent children of the Vietnamese people who have bravely fought and sacrificed their youths, blood, bones even their lives in the battlefield for independence, freedom of the motherland.

There is a passage as below: “Following the tradition of heroic history of the nation, with the principle of “drinking water, remembering the source”, besides the socio-economic development tasks, Con Dao authorities and people have made great efforts to implement the policy to families in preferential treatment policy, people with meritorious services to the revolution and always take good care of work of recompensing.

There are Hang Duong Cemetery and Con Dao Temple which are the work of the hearts, appreciation of Vietnamese for the predecessors.

With an area of ??about 20 hectares, Hang Duong Cemetery is divided into 4 zones: A, B, C and D; This is the resting place of tens of thousands of revolutionary soldiers and patriots of Vietnam through imprisoned generations from 1862 to 1975. Hang Duong cemetery was started construction and embellishment in 1992.

The Con Dao Temple was built in 2008 to commemorate the merits of heroic martyrs who sacrificed for liberty of the country. At the same time, this also aimed to educate the revolutionary traditions for the young generation and bring into full play the values ??of the Con Dao Revolutionary Relics.

Con Dao Temple was completed in 2011 by the sponsorship of many enterprises throughout the country and become a majestic work in the remote island. There is a book by stone to name 2,147 revolutionary soldiers who died in Con Dao prison and now rested on Con Dao sacred land.

This is the first year Con Dao district holding a ceremony for heroic martyrs and patriots on the anniversary of Vietnam’s war invalids and martyrs day - 27/7.

Along with the activities taking place in the district on this occasion, the worshiping ceremony of the heroic martyrs is a reminder of today's generation of patriotic traditions, the pride of the people.  It also reminds us about our sense and responsibility with motherland so that we live, work and study in harmony with the sacrifice of heroic martyrs, wounded soldiers, patriots with meritorious services to the revolution; This act is also according to the words of General Director Le Duan when he visited Con Dao on August 27, 1976. He said that: "Con Dao - A heroic island. Con Dao is a great historical relic. Con Dao is a real school for generations".

Before that, Con Dao district solemnly held a meeting to mark the 70th anniversary of Vietnam’s war invalids and martyrs day; Give presents to families in preferential treatment policy in the district. On this occasion, the District People's Committee rewarded 7 collectives and 4 individuals with outstanding achievements in gratitude work in Con Dao district.
