Con Dao welcomed more than 160 thousand tourist arrivals in 2016

This is an island district which has favorable conditions for the natural landscape and the human values, the value of great revolutionary history. Con Dao has become an attractive destination for many tourists in the country and internationally in recent years.

Determining the field of tourism and service are the key sectors in the economic structure of Con Dao district so executive committee and local government of district was concerned, guided in directing and implementing synchronous measures to stimulate the growth of tourism industry from the beginning of the year . As reported by Con Dao people's committee, Con Dao has welcomed and served 166,947 passengers, achieving 115.14% of the plan year, an increase of 24.34% over the same period, of which more than 30 thousand international visitors since early this year. The total tourism revenue achieved over 802 billion, reaching 123.42% of the plan, up 37.24% over the same period.

According to statistics, Con Dao district has nearly 40 accommodation establishments, of which 12 hotels and resorts, 3 guest houses, the rest are motels. There are one resort was ranked 5 - star, one 3-star hotel. There are 6 companies business supplying travel services, three service companies supplying diving to watch sea coral, two taxi firms with nearly 40 vehicles and 140 cars used in transport services for visitors on the island, more than 20 motor boat and boats to transport the visitors at the sea or to small islands. System restaurants, souvenir shops, mini supermarkets… serving the needs of the tourists has developed rapidly. The tourism business establishments, guest houses, hotels were more interested in improving equipment and providing innovative services to meet the increasing demand of travelers.

Besides the construction of infrastructure, introducing tourist information of Con Dao was also interested in last year. Salient feature is joining the third international tourism fair in Hanoi (VITM) taken place from 14 to 17 April 2016. A fair was jointly held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi city and the Vietnam Tourism Association. The booth tour of Con Dao has welcomed 30,000 visitors within 4 days of the fair. To meet the needs of rapid development of the tourism industry, Con Dao district has organized a seminar to promote and orient tourism products as well as establishment of "Con Dao Tourist Association" last year. The establishment of the Tourism Association will provide an opportunity to engage, support, cooperation and expand the business of individuals, enterprises and economic organizations inside and outside the district, carried out socialising in tourism in accordance with the policy of resolution of the Ninth Congress of Party of Con Dao district. Advantages, available potentials and promoting propaganda of tourism has been effective in attracting more and more tourists to visit Con Dao Island.
