According to the Department of Tourism, in the first nine months of 2017, the total number of visitors to Con Dao was over 182,000, making up 107% of the year plan, up 33% over the same period.In particular, international visitors more than 22 thousand, reaching 72% of the year plan. Total turnover reached 887,223 million, reaching 109% of the plan, up 35% over the same period.

Currently, in Con Dao district, there are 44 tourist accommodation establishments doing business to serve tourists with 882 chambers, accommodating over 2 thousand people. There is a 5 star resort, 4 resorts, a 3 star hotel, 20 mini hotels, 4 guest houses and 14 family guest houses.

In the first nine months of the year, the Department of Tourism has assessed and ranked 25 accommodation establishments in Con Dao district. Con Dao tourism promotion information is also supported by the Department.On the website of the Tourism Department, the province regularly publishes information on tourism activities of Con Dao district as well as supports Con Dao tourism enterprises to promote information and services.

Regarding the planning and investment in tourism, the Department has given the orientation for tourism development according to the master plan for the development of Con Dao National Park; Advising the provincial People's Committee on the plan to implement Decision 870 of the Prime Minister;On 23/8/2017, the provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 84 on implementation of the general plan for development of Con Dao National Park in the province until 2030.

In the training and upgrading of human resources:The Tourism Department has developed a training and tourism training program for three classes in Con Dao, including civil communication classes, emergency water rescue and tour guide training.

In addition, the Department has also stepped up the coordination of the list of investment projects in Con Dao district and the inspection and examination of business and tourism services in the district.

At the meeting, the leaders of Con Dao district, a number of related departments and representatives of tourist business establishments have presented difficulties and problems and put forward solutions and recommendations to improve the quality of tourist services on the island, such as:difficulties in human resources qualified for development of Con Dao Tourism;further development of tourist products is still difficult;currently, only one airline "exclusive" operates Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao so the fares are very high; flight frequency is not high; proposed to expand Con Dao airport, extend the runway to meet the requirement of large aircrafts;It is necessary to adjust the construction planning so that it is both suitable for each area and ensuring the capacity of investors; The Con Dao Tourism Association was established but was not effective due to budget constraints;…

Conclusion at the briefing, Mr. Trinh Hang - Director of the Department of Tourism of BRVT recognized and accepted the opinions and recommendations of localities and establishments and businesses in tourism services in the area of Con Dao district.Tourism activities of Con Dao in the first 9 months of 2017 has reached and exceeded the plan, however, still encountered many difficulties and shortcomings must be overcome soon.To further improve tourism activities in the coming time, the Department of Tourism requested Con Dao district continue to closely coordinate with relevant departments to implement plan 84 on 23/8/2017 of Provincial People's Committee of BRVT on implementing the national master plan for tourism development in Con Dao;expanding the development of tourism product models; Strengthen the promotion of tourism of the district to domestic and foreign visitors;comprehensive solutions to ensure the environment friendly tourist, friendly ... make Con Dao tourism is attractive and reliable destination for tourists.
