In the period 2012-2016: Ba Ria - Vung Tau Tourism industry welcomed 68 million visitors, total revenue VND 16.722 billion

Comrade Dang Minh Thong, Provincial Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee chaired the conference. Mr. Tran Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Representatives from departments and over 100 tourism companies attended.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Comrade Dang Minh Thong said that since the second Provincial Party Congress, tourism has been identified as one of the key economic sectors of the province. Since then, Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee has directed the branches and localities to focus on developing projects, plans and research specific solutions to promote the development of the provincial tourism industry.

Many plannings, plans and action plans for tourism development have been formulated and promulgated by the Provincial Party Committee, including the master plan for tourism development by 2010, with orientation by 2020; Approved the planning at 1/2000 scale of tourist villages; The plan for the implementation of the Government's Resolution No. 92 / NQ-CP of December 8, 2014 on some solutions to boost the development of Vietnam's tourism in the new period; Directive No. 21/CT-UBND dated 23-9-2016 of the provincial People's Committee on enhancing the work of ensuring the tourist environment in the province ... Thus, the tourism sector has achieved many positive results. The number of tourists and annual revenue has increased. Tourism gradually affirmed the important position in the province's economy. In the period 2012-2016, the tourism industry reached a total revenue of  VND 16,722 billion, total visitors reached 68 million.

At the conference, representatives of departments, businesses also contributed many solutions for tourism development in the coming period such as: Modifying, supplementing and perfecting tourism planning in line with the new situation; Building action programs around the theme "clean" such as "clean beach", "green, clean, beautiful tourist village", "clean food"; Regularly implement documents related to the state management of security, order and education to raise awareness for staffs of tourism industry; Mobilize tourist businesses to propagate to tourists who do not bring food, soft drinks to the beaches, do not eat food and drink in public places; To commend and reward in time organizations and individuals that have done well in protecting and keeping environmental sanitation.

However, the development of the tourism industry also revealed the following limitations: Tourism planning is not synchronous, lack of vision; Tourism products are not diversified, lack of attraction. Many tourism investment projects are delayed; Professional skills and foreign language proficiency of workers are still weak; The coordination in tourism development between state agencies is not close.
