Vice-President made offerings of incense at Hang Duong cemetery, Con Dao

At Hang Duong cemetery, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh offered flowers and incense to memorize the merits of Martyrs, Heroes, patriots sacrificed at Con Dao prison during the resistance years.

The Vice President burned incense at the patriot’s tomb, Nguyen An Ninh; the late general secretary Le Hong Phong; Heroine of People's Armed Forces Vo Thi Sau and Ho Van Nam; She also burned incense at the shared graves and graves of other martyrs in Hang Duong cemetery.

According to Con Dao Relics Management Board, more than 20,000 prisoners were exiled there in over the 113 years of Con Dao prison. There are 1,921 tombs of martyrs and soldiers, but only over 700 tombs identified names, hometown at Hang Duong cemetery. Most of the graves here are not reassembled so they still remain in the first place and condition, including the shared grave of 14 martyrs executed on the same day.

Vice-President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh visited Con Dao Temple where engraved and named thousands of martyrs in the country. The delegation also visited the detention center of the Con Dao prison, where detained revolutionary comrades of the Party.

On the same day (on the 20th June of the lunar calendar), the Organizing Committee of Con Dao prisoners’ Death anniversary organized the 6th shared death anniversary for Martyrs, Heroes and patriots sacrificed in Con Dao prison at Con Dao temple.

The Organizing Committee held a memorial ceremony for 51 soldiers given a deadth sentence by French in Con Dao from 29/10/1947 to 6 / 11/1953 on the previous day (on June 19 lunar calendar). Of the 51 soldiers, Comrade Vo Van Sau and Comrade Ho Van Nam posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
