Commemorating the 48th anniversary of national reunification day 30/4 and international labor day 1/5 leaders and people in Con Dao district (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) organized cultural and sports activities attracting thousands of people and tourists to participate.

Notably, the traditional rafting festival with the theme "Follow the legend", took place on the afternoon of April 30 at Pier 914 in Con Son Bay.
This festival is meant to recreate the past escape trips of Con Dao prisoners. According to organizers, Con Dao is a sacred land marking the resilient and indomitable struggle of generations of revolutionary soldiers and patriotic compatriots during 113 years (1862 – 1975)

In order to recreate the escapes of Con Dao prisoners in the past, for many years, on every anniversary of the Southern Liberation Day, the people of Con Dao district organize the traditional raft racing festival. The rafts are handmade from rudimentary, simple, easy-to-find materials such as bamboo, cork, and foam ... Each raft will have the participation of 7 athletes, and athletes use paddles to race.

The traditional rafting festival is part of the series of activities of Con Dao Festival 2023 to be held from April 28 to May 2, 2023. In addition to the traditional rafting festival, Con Dao also organizes many other events such as the incense offering ceremony to commemorate the martyred heroes at Hang Duong cemetery; and Con Dao Temple; Food street combines street art performances and folk game booths; thematic photo exhibition "Con Dao – Return Day"; seminars and exchanges with former Con Dao political prisoners returning from Con Dao prison on the day of liberation 01/5/1975; launching ceremony, accompanying cycling for the environment; organized the "Con Son Morning Run" Running Festival; the raising of the national flag and a special art program to celebrate Con Dao Festival in 2023

A raft is on its way to the finish line.

This year, the traditional rafting festival in Con Dao has the participation of 13 raft teams from residential areas of Con Dao. The teams depart from the historic Pier 914 to the Dugong Cape area, then return to the destination at the original starting point with a total distance of more than 2 km.
