Cape of Shark

It is called Cape of Shark because when looking at the map of this area it looks like shark nose;there are also many people who say that previously this area had more sharks, the communists who refused to leave would go down here for feeding sharks. Particularly, I know that passing through this area is very dangerous because one side is rocky cliffs with the other side deep sea, limited view on the other side, on the other hand, on the other hand, in the northeast monsoon (wind), this is a very difficult area because of the strong wind and the accident is likely to happen, so when we come here, we will be in danger of "swimming" in front of the shark's nose. You can see the vegetation here is composed of many shrubs, intertwined in order to adapt to the terrain, soil and the Northeast monsoon. Although the vegetation here consists of many shrubs, small trees but it has been formed for hundreds of years and is daily anti-erosion, forming soil, protecting the island.

Here you can see the southeast sea of the island. In 1952, Lord Jarty set up the project to expand and cover this road to make effective use of Ben Dam bay. Jarty's road paving scheme created a precondition for the unforgettable prison break, which occurred during the monsoon season of that year. Nearly 200 prisoners of war were sent to Ben Dam to make way for the armed forces to escape the prison of the Communist Party. But political prisoners from the Hon Gai - Cam Pha miner have designed a tunnel underground under the prison. They digged the soil with a spoon ful of rice, put the soil in the pants, pulled the shirt off, pulled the wood from the stall to put up resistance, determination, perseverance, night after night and finally, they got 2 secret tunnels are just long enough to be the place to build five boats across the sea. The riots broke out at 11 o'clock on December 12, 1952. Five wooden frame boats were launched in Nhat beach, Ben Dam. The escape was unsuccessful due to unfavorable weather, the escape boat was rudimentary and exposed, and 117 people were returned to the island, eight others were killed at sea.

Later, Nguyen Van Hanh, the leader of that time, joined the convoy of Quang Ninh province's political prisoners, who returned to find a tunnel and set up a memorial tablet for those who died during the escape.

Observing the Peak of Love form Nhat Beach

From the Nhat beach look to the west we see two peaks 328m high adjacent to each other called Love Peak,Legend says: "There werea young couple loved each other, but their family prohibits their marriage, they did not want to leave each other, so they fled to Ben Dam area and embraced each other to petrified.Mr. Tran Dinh Hue - Director of Con Dao National Park Management Board, has composed the poem after standing in front of the scenic of beauty of the Peak of Love:

The port was opened in 2000. Stop at the Hon Ba Forest Protection Station

Hon Con Hon nho is also known as Hon Ba or Phu Son island has an area of 576ha, the island of Con Lon to the East - North by a small slit approximately 20m wide called the throat of Dam or Tu. Between the two islands is a lagoon, also known as the Southwest Bay, where the jute is quite deep and hidden wind so it is very convenient for boats, storm shelter.

The legend of Hon Ba:

It is propaganda that in about 1783, Nguyen Anh fled to Con Dao to avoid the pursuit of the Tay Son insurgent. Ms. Phi Yen disagreed and advised her husband not to do so.Because of that Nguyen Anh got heated, suspected Phi Yen has a connotation collusion with the Tay Son troops, so he locked her in a cave on the southwestern island of Con Son, so this island is called Ba island .

Explore Dam Quoc

Walking from the Forest Protection Station about 2km, we will explore the rainforest with many kinds of trees and vines. We will see huge trees, which give hardwood, beautiful and durable; we will see big Lagerstroemia trees, large banyan trees standing on the road. We can meet rare birds such as Nicoba pigeons, Pied Imperial Pigeonfeeding, or endemic species such as Black Squirrel, Long-tailed Macaque.

Mangroves Dam Quoc

Area of 5ha is the mangrove forest with the largest area on the island. There are 46 species of mangrove vegetation, mainly mangrove. Mangrove forest in Dam Quoc is consiedered one of the remaining primary forests in Vietnam. Mangroves are distributed on sand, gravel, coral and completely submerged in salt water, which is different from other mangroves in Vietnam. Due to soil and climate conditions, mangrove forests are not high, however, they have fairly developed root systems with diameter from 6m - 8m.

Mangroves here have the largest Coc Do trees (the species listed in the Red Book) in Vietnam.There are two new species that are not yet listed in Vietnam's mangrove forest list are the hainesii and rufus.
