Speaking at the meeting, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh informed that since the Government has a policy of fully reopening tourism on March 15, 2022, localities have been very proactive in preparing and strengthening linkages, forming new products, implementing stimulating tourism demand to welcome both domestic and international tourists.
Tourism activities throughout the country have positive progress. In the first nine months of 2022, tourism industry received about 87 million domestic visitor arrivals, over 1.8 million international visitor arrivals. The tourism receipt is nearly 400 trillion VND. However, the number of international visitor arrivals to Vietnam is still far below the result before pandemic, as well as compared to the 2022 target.
A series of promotion activities to attract international visitors will be implemented
Promotion activities in the near future will include Vietnam tourism roadshow during Vietnam Cultural Festival in Korea; Mekong Tourism Forum to be held in Quang Nam from October 9-14, 2022; The Vietnam - Singapore bilateral tourism cooperation conference taking place in Ho Chi Minh City from November 7-11; The Vietnam - Japan bilateral tourism cooperation conference in Da Nang from November 16 to 19; Vietnam - Taiwan tourism cooperation conference in Kaohsiung at the end of October 2022.
In particular, VNAT has reported to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the Plan to organize a conference to attract international tourists to Vietnam, scheduled in October 2022. The conference will be chaired of Government leaders and have participants of relevant ministries, departments, and agencies.
The core contents are policies to facilitate international visitors to Vietnam (entry and exit, aviation, market expansion, etc.), promotion activities, and policies to support tourism businesses, training human resources in tourism and digital transformation in tourism.
Besides, there is a plan to participate in international tourism fairs such as WTM in London (UK); Travex on the sidelines of ASEAN Tourism Forum in Indonesia; ITB in Berlin (Germany)… along with welcome foreign famtrip and presstrip delegations to Vietnam; and promote Vietnam tourism on digital platforms.
Continue to enhance the role of the national tourism organization and the active participation of localities in promotion
At the meeting, the leaders of the local tourism management departments informed about the situation of welcoming tourists, sharing the common difficulties to attract international tourism. Proposing solutions to promotion and simplify immigration procedures, expand visa exemption, extend visa exemption period, supporting tourism businesses.
In particular, localities all agreed to propose that VNAT continue to be a conductor in developing and implementing a plan to promote Vietnam tourism abroad, for localities to participate.
They also had same opinion to strengthening linkages, building new tourism products and tourism promotion publications as well as enhance digital transformation in tourism promotion activities through websites, social networks, smart tourism applications, etc.
VNAT’s Vice Chairman Ha Van Sieu asked localities to actively join in promoting Vietnam tourism abroad, unify the common message that is Vietnam - Timeless Charm and media campaign “Live fully in Vietnam”; strengthen the connection with VNAT’s digital communication channels.
