Con Dao hosts special exhibition “One Striped Homeland” to commemorate 50 years of reunification and liberation

On the morning of April 23, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the Liberation of Con Dao, the Provincial Museum – Library held the opening ceremony of the special exhibition titled “Non song lien mot dai” (One Striped Homeland) in Con Dao District. The event was attended by Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; local leaders of Con Dao District; representatives from agencies, armed forces, residents, and visitors.

This exhibition is part of a series of meaningful activities commemorating the following important milestones: 50 years since the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), 50 years since the Liberation of Con Dao (May 1, 1975 – May 1, 2025), 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025)
The Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Museum – Library (Con Dao Branch) solemnly organized the opening ceremony at the Nha Cong Quan Historical Site.




Distinguished guests included: Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet – Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province; From Con Dao District: Ms. Nguyen Thuy Nga – Vice Chairwoman of the District People's Committee; Mr. Do Hoai Nam – Head of the Propaganda and Public Affairs Committee; Ms. Pham Thi Tam – Deputy Director of the Provincial Museum – Library; Along with representatives from local departments, mass organizations, armed forces, and community zone managers.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Nga, Vice Chairwoman of the Con Dao District People's Committee, praised the Provincial Museum – Library’s efforts in organizing a meaningful exhibition, contributing significantly to the celebratory atmosphere of this historic period. She emphasized that Con Dao is not only a sacred land symbolizing the indomitable struggle of revolutionary soldiers and patriotic compatriots but also a place for people to revisit their roots and pass down traditions to future generations.
 

On behalf of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet expressed gratitude to the Con Dao District Party Committee, People's Committee, local agencies, and communities for their continuous support. He emphasized the province’s commitment to preserving and promoting the value of the Con Dao Special National Monument.
Fifty years after liberation, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, including Con Dao, has made remarkable strides across various sectors—economy, culture, defense, and security. The region is recognized for its dynamic development and significant contribution to the national budget.
The exhibition is divided into three key sections: The Historic Moment, Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Con Dao during the Liberation, Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Con Dao: 50 Years After Liberation
With over 200 valuable historical documents and images, the exhibition aims to provide the public with insightful information about the historical significance of national reunification. It highlights the correct leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the revered President Ho Chi Minh, and the unity of the Vietnamese people in achieving the dream of a unified homeland—“Non song lien mot dai.”
The exhibition will run from April through the end of June 2025.
