1. Geographic Location

Con Dao is an offshore archipelago located in the southeastern waters of Vietnam, approximately 230 km from Ho Chi Minh City. With its pristine natural landscapes, diverse marine–forest ecosystems, and an exceptional system of nationally significant historical sites, Con Dao stands out as a destination of outstanding natural and cultural value.

The archipelago is home to a collection of Special National Historical Relics and is internationally recognized for its remarkable natural heritage. Con Dao has been designated a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance, an ASEAN Heritage Park, is listed on the IUCN Green List, and is one of Vietnam’s nine National Tourism Areas.

From 1 July 2025, Con Dao officially becomes the only special administrative zone of Ho Chi Minh City, marking a new milestone in its development.

Covering nearly 76 km², the archipelago consists of 16 islands, with Con Son being the largest and most inhabited.
