The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) held a road show, on September 25, to introduce tourist products, the land, people and culture of Vietnam to the Indonesians.

The event, which attracted nearly 150 leading travel agents from the two countries, also aimed to bolster the tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia.

Visitors to the programme were updated with information on the most appreciated destinations in Vietnam, such as Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park and Son Doong cave (Quang Binh province), Trang An Tourist Complex (Ninh Binh Province), Ban Gioc Waterfall (Cao Bang province), and Sapa town (Lao Cai province).

Vietnam’s excellent cuisine and its tangible and intangible cultural heritages, which have been recognised by UNESCO, were also introduced at the event.

Magdalena Atmadja. Marketing Director of Indonesia’s Platinum Travel Agent, said that her company has opened tours for Indonesian visitors to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and the company plans to launch new tours to other tourist sites in Vietnam, such as Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh province) and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.

Meanwhile, Akhmad Dani, director of Goodway – an Indonesian company which has been operating in the hospitality sector for 17 years, said that his company brings around 300-500 tourists to Vietnam. He shared that the biggest difficulties facing Indonesian visitors in Vietnam are a lack of tour guides who are fluent in the Indonesian language, and their request for Muslim Halal food.
