Vietnam to grant e-visa for foreigners

Vietnam will pilot granting electronic visa to foreign tourists in 2017 and 2018 since January 1, 2017.

Accordingly, procedures for visa application and fee payment will be conducted online in a bid to increase transparency and convenience for tourists.

It will take three days to process application for an e-visa valid for 30 days. The visa does not require letters of guarantee or invitation. 
 

The move reflects the Government’s determination to spur the development of tourism which is considered one of the country’s spearhead industries.

 

In addition, Vietnam is mulling over expanding unilateral visa exemption to other key tourist markets.
