Mr. Bui Hoa An, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, delivered a speech at the event, highlighting the significance of the new ferry route in developing waterway tourism and enhancing inter-provincial transportation connectivity.
Con Dao has long been known for its stunning landscapes and profound historical significance, drawing large numbers of tourists and visitors. The launch of this new route adds another convenient option for travelers, while also alleviating pressure on road transport.
Mr. An noted that a ferry route from Nha Be District to Con Dao had previously been operated in 2024 but was suspended due to certain unfavorable conditions. “Today, we are introducing this new route under more favorable conditions, with the terminal located right in the heart of District 4. The first departure is expected on March 29,” he said.

The service is operated by the Phu Quy Express high-speed ferry, which has 374 seats.

Mr. Nguyen Le Chon Tam, General Director of Saigon Port, shared that this route creates greater convenience for tourists from central Ho Chi Minh City looking to visit Con Dao for tourism and historical exploration.
Initially, the ferry will operate with 374 passengers, with plans to increase capacity by 30–50% based on actual demand.
