Vietnam and Cambodia strengthen tourism cooperation

Many Vietnamese tourism businesses are joining 500 other firms from around 80 countries worldwide at the 2018 Cambodian Travel Mart, which opened in Phnom Penh on October 11.

The event is hosted by the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism to promote Cambodian tourist products and services to the world while fostering tourism cooperation with international partners.

According to So Mara, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Tourism, the event provided a good opportunity for participating businesses to exchange information while creating a platform for buyers and sellers to find each other.

He also highly appreciated positive cooperation in tourism between Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as the bilateral efforts in promoting the “Two Countries, One Destination” joint tourism plan.

At the event, Vietnam’s national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with the Cambodia Association of Travel Agents (CATA).

Chief representative of Vietnam Airlines in Cambodia Ngo Tri Hung said that, as the CATA hosts around 300 travel agents, the signing of the MoC will help Vietnam Airlines to expand its market and introduce its services to Cambodian customers.

Cambodia received around 3 million international arrivals in the first half of this year. Among them, Vietnam ranked second in the number of foreign tourists to Cambodia, after China.
