Of which: International tourists accounted for about 20,871, reaching 122.77% of the annual plan and achieving 160.04% compared to the same period in 2023. The Save Turtles Run 2024 took place on August 17, 2024, with over 200 domestic and international athletes participating.
During the first 9 months, the Management Board of Con Dao National Tourism Area has collaborated with the Tourism Association, relevant units, and companies to implement stimulating measures to attract tourists such as: constructing and announcing over 50 tourism promotion packages; encouraging establishments to implement promotional programs and add amenities to their services, while not increasing prices during weekends, holidays, and festivals; enhancing all-inclusive services and proposing solutions to address difficulties in air travel to and from Con Dao... in order to attract visitors. Phu Quoc Express high-speed ferry company operated the super-speed ferry Thang Long with a capacity of 1,017 passengers per trip on the Vung Tau - Con Dao route (and vice versa) from March 9, 2024; the Saigon - Con Dao route (and vice versa) from May 14, 2024; and Mai Linh ferry operated the Can Tho - Con Dao route from March 16, 2024. Ferry companies have increased passenger transportation on all routes, especially the Tran De (Soc Trang) - Con Dao route, to meet the travel needs of local residents and tourists.
The Thang Long super-speed ferry on the Saigon - Con Dao route ceased operations from July 15, 2024.
However, starting from April 1, 2024, Bamboo Airways suspended flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao (and vice versa), resulting in a daily reduction of about 5-6 flights, affecting the attraction of visitors from northern provinces to Con Dao. Although the unit, together with the Tourism Association and tourism service providers, has intensified information dissemination and communication about the most convenient means of transportation to Con Dao for visitors, especially those from northern provinces, and made recommendations to increase flight frequency to and from Con Dao by Vasco airline... it is still difficult to attract passengers from northern provinces to Con Dao due to the need for connecting flights, which prolongs travel time. In addition, the Saigon - Con Dao (and vice versa) ferry route has stopped operating since July 15, 2024; the Can Tho - Con Dao (and vice versa) ferry route has also stopped operating since July 15, 2024, posing difficulties for Con Dao in attracting visitors. The number of visitors to Con Dao in the first 9 months increased slightly (0.42%) compared to the same period in 2023. Business activities in the tourism sector in the district have been relatively stable in the first 9 months. Currently, Con Dao tourism is entering the low season, and many establishments have announced temporary closure for facility upgrades and repairs in preparation for serving guests in 2025
Bamboo Airways suspended flights to and from Con Dao from the beginning of April 2024.
