On the morning of June 5, at the crossroads of Ton DucThang and Le Hong Phong streets, Con Dao district People's Committee held a meeting to meet the World Ocean Day, World Environment Day.

June 5 every year is chosen by the United Nations Environment Program as World Environment Day. This is a very important annual international environmental event that Vietnam has been responding to since 1982 to contribute to raising awareness and promoting community action on environmental protection and sustainable development.

According to the UN report, every year around 7 million people worldwide die prematurely due to air pollution, of which Asia-Pacific region has nearly 4 million people. Air pollution affects human health and economic growth with about 92% of people around the world not being able to breathe clean air, damaging the global economy by $ 5 trillion a year. . Ground-level ozone pollution is expected to reduce 26% of key crop yields by 2030. Air pollution has been a major challenge for the community and the whole society.

Accordingly, “World Ocean Day 8/6” was adopted by the United Nations with the goal of conserving marine and ocean resources. That as a call must be responsible for taking care of the blue ocean by connecting, spreading and inspiring towards gender equality; empowering women and girls around the world in all areas related to the ocean.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of the district launched a response to the World Youth Day, the day of the National Day of the Island, all the people and tourists responded to activities such as planting trees, cleaning the beach environment. , walking to propagate and raise awareness of environmental protection in the district.
