District People's Committee works with Institute for Tourism Development Research

Mr. Nguyen Anh Nhut, Vice Chairman of District People's Committee presided over a meeting with delegation of Institute for Tourism Development Research under General Department of Tourism led by Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Head of a survey and assessment of implemention plan on Con Dao - The National Tourism Area Management.

At the working session, Con Dao district reported to the delegation on implementation of planning development of Con Dao The National Tourism Area Management in accordance with Decision No. 870 dated 17/6/2015 by the Prime Minister. Accordingly, Con Dao district has implemented many solutions to implement the planning.

Over the past years, tourism infrastructure and services continue to be called for investment. Currently Con Dao has more than 60 accommodation facilities with a capacity of about 1,000 rooms / room, capacity about 2,500 people / day.

Means of connection between Con Dao and the mainland are growing; Tourism promotion has been paid attention by the district.

Quality human resource development solutions for tourism are also focused. There are 21 historic relics; Five museums; 6 ecotourism guides in Con Dao The National Tourism Area Management; 54 tour guides of tour operators, of which 24 tour guides have practicing card.

The number of tourists to Con Dao from 2014 to 2017 will increase by 35% / year, of which international visitors will increase by 14%; Tourism revenue increased 48% per year.

Also at the meeting, Con Dao district raised a number of difficulties and problems with the delegation as infrastructure for tourism is lacking, especially tourist infrastructure with high class so not attract high-ranking visitors to Con Dao; Connection between Con Dao and the mainland by air is limited; international arrivals to Con Dao are low; Local tourism products of is not rich.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr.Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of Research Institute for Tourism Development noted planning results of Con Dao -The National Tourism Area Management, difficulties and problems of the locality. Based on that, Institute will study and propose solutions to VNAT to support localities in planning Con Dao The National Tourism Area Management. From that, creating specific tourism products, contributing to Con Dao tourism increasingly develops commensurating with potential and advantages of the local.
