The Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao high-speed train route will be exploited by Phu Quoc High Speed Train Joint Stock Company. The ship is expected to depart from Hiep Phuoc port area (Nha Be district) to Ben Dam port (BR-VT province).
The high-speed train put into use on the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route will be the largest single-hull high-speed train in Vietnam today. The ship uses 03 Rolls engines - with a total capacity of 11,580 horsepower, able to reach speeds of up to 30 knots/hour. With a length of up to 77.46 meters, the train is specially designed to increase the ability to break waves and increase stability. The train is expected to carry more than 1,000 passengers per trip, with a journey time of about 5 hours with a distance of 230km.

The Department of Transport of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province coordinated with the People's Committee of Con Dao district and related departments and units to basically agree to allow the route to operate to serve passengers and tourists at the terminal in Con Dao district.
According to the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City, this train routine is part of the waterway development plan of Ho Chi Minh City for the period 2023-2025. The early operation of the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao routine will contribute to the development of transportation and waterway tourism between  Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria – Vung Tau province. This is in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction and the general policy of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province on implementing inter-regional transportation projects, promoting inland waterway transportation to contribute the development of tourism and waterway transportation between the two localities.

Mr. Bui Hoa An - Deputy Director of the Ministry of Transport. HCM - emphasizes that the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao high-speed train routine not only meets people's travel needs but also serves transportation, tourism, cultural and historical protection. Therefore, Mr. An requires all units to quickly coordinate with the operator Phu Quoc High-Speed Train Co., Ltd. to solve the difficulties and problems encountered.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and various departments are always ready to support enterprises in implementing procedures. No matter what difficulties are encountered, they must be dealt with as soon as possible. All units must strive to put the Ho Chi Minh City – Con Dao high-speed train routine into operation by September 2023, no later than the end of 2023, "An said.

This high-speed train will establish an effective connection between Ho Chi Minh City and Koong Island, helping tourists save time and energy during their travels. Tourists can quickly and conveniently reach their destination, instead of experiencing many train transfers like before.
The development of the HCMC Con Dao high-speed train is expected to not only strengthen water transportation but also create favorable conditions for the tourism industry of HCMC and Con Dao. The connection between HCMC and Con Dao also helps to strengthen tourism activities and cultural exchanges between regions.
