CONFERENCE ON SOLUTIONS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH QUALITY, GREEN, SUSTAINABLE CON DAO TOURISM FOR THE PERIOD OF 2020 - 2025
On June 12, 2020, at the Conference Center of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province held a conference to propose solutions to develop a high quality, green and sustainable Con Dao tourism in the period of 2020 - 2025. Attending the conference were Mr. Le Ngoc Khanh - Vice Chairman of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Trinh Hang - Director of the Provincial Department of Tourism and Mr. Le Van Phong - Chairman of Con Dao District People's Committee, former leaders of the province, representatives of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, representatives of departments of Ba Ria Vung Tau province and Con Dao district, and many experts on tourism and Tourism Association of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
Speaking at the meeting, Le Ngoc Khanh - Vice Chairman of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee said: “With the leadership and drastic direction of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee, the synchronous participation of departments, especially the District Party Committee, State Council, People's Committee and related branches of Con Dao district, infrastructure for tourism has been increasingly invested, upgraded and completed; facilities for tourism have 110 accommodation establishments with 1.632 rooms, welcoming about 4,251 guests staying day and night. Many luxury hotels and resorts have been formed, ready to serve tourists such as Six Senses Con Dao, Poulo Condor, Con Dao resort... However, Con Dao tourism is still tackling difficulty, such as: tourism promotion of the district is still weak; human resources for tourism are still inadequate; infrastructure has not kept pace with the annual tourist growth; The risk of environmental pollution is a difficult, challenging, immediate and long-term issue. ” Through the seminar, he expected the participants with their experience and practice to give comments and propose solutions to develop Con Dao tourism of high quality, green and sustainable.
At the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Trong Minh, former Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee of BRVT said that in order to develop a high-quality, green and sustainable Con Dao tourism, it is important for the short term to have solutions to handle huge amount of waste at Nhat beach; take measures to manage and tighten the population size of Con Dao so as not to suddenly increase; building a safe and friendly Con Dao culture, creating an impressive highlight for tourists; at the same time protecting the natural environment, natural resources, and historical sites for sustainable tourism development.
