The impressive art program "Con Dao

Celebrating 73 years of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2020), on the evening of July 18th, in Con Dao District, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports in collaboration with Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province and the People's Committee of Con Dao district organized a special art program "Con Dao – The Country Soul ". The program was recorded to broadcast livestream on digital media infrastructure of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, Ho Chi Minh City Light Music Center, Digital Media Hub.

Art program "Con Dao – The Country Soul" was with the participation of comrades: Truong My Hoa, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Nguyen Thanh Phong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; accompanied leaders of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. On Ba Ria - Vung Tau province side, there were Mrs. Nguyen Thi Yen, Deputy Standing Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the provincial Delegation Committee; and leaders of departments, agencies, unions of the province, former political prisoners and numerous officials, soldiers, people of Con Dao and tourists.

Speaking at the program, The standing deputy Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Le Thanh Liem said that the art program "Con Dao – Country Soul" and a number of grateful activities in Con Dao in some days of July are chances of presenting the morality of return favor of martyrs, wounded soldiers and diseased soldiers who were imprisoned in Con Dao, thereby expressing their deep respect and gratitude to their fellow citizens and comrades who shed their blood and sacrificed for the national liberation and national unity.

Art program " The Country Soul" was divided into 4 chapters including Vietnam - Immortal monuments; Con Dao - Epic songs; Con Dao - red address & green aspiration; Ho Chi Minh city - civilization, modern, sentimental attachment for the whole country.
Throughout the program, there were 16 special song and dance acts such as: Đất nước, Kể chuyện người cộng sản, Lời ghi trên vách đá, Biết ơn chị Võ Thị Sáu, Bài ca hy vọng, Giải phóng miền Nam, Đất nước trọn niềm vui, Linh thiêng Việt Nam, Biển nỗi nhớ và em, Đảo thần tiên, Hát về Côn Đảo hôm nay, Tự hào TP.HCM,Việt Nam 2020 etc. All those were elaborately constructed, combined with the sound, light, modern stage effects, which has made this art program monumental, unique but also very solemn, sacred.

Those songs by People's Artist Ta Minh Tam, Thanh Ngan, Trong Phuc; singers Dam Vinh Hung, Hien Thuc, Quoc Dai, Vo Ha Tram, Anh Bang etc and the dancing group MTV Saigon, Mai Trang, ABC and students of Vo Thi Sau High School and soldiers of the Military Police Department of Con Dao District reconstructed the image of Con Dao, the revolutionary school of thousands of patriotic Vietnamese people, where the fire for 113 years of fighting under the regime of colonial and imperial imprisonment; thereby creating deep feeling, sacred emotion, and arousing the love for homeland and the country of each audience.

There was also a sharing of former Vice President Truong My Hoa and Ms. Bui Thi Son, two former political prisoners of Con Dao, and Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Huong, Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union. It helped the audience to gain more insight of the harshness in the colonial and empirical prison as well as the willingness and strength of communist generations who overcame the tackles to gain victory. This program also educated the young people on patriotism and national willpower to join hands to build the homeland of the country.
Held in Con Dao, the art program "Con Dao - Homeland's Soul" is not only an occasion to remember and be grateful to thousands of soldiers and patriots who sacrificed in Con Dao for their independence and freedom of the Fatherland but through the program, it was also an opportunity to introduce and promote the image of Con Dao - the special national relic to a large number of people the whole country.
