“Red” destination on Spring day
During the first 3 days of Lunar New Year 2023, Hang Duong cemetery relic is open from 7 am to 12 am and after this time it opens until 10 pm daily as usual. This is the first destination that people and tourists choose when they come to Con Dao. The impression in the area of Hang Duong cemetery these days is the apricot blossom trees blooming at the graves of the martyrs. Along both sides of the road to the cemetery are colorful flags. This place is also decorated by hundreds of flower pots, and ornamental plants beautifully and cleanly decorated.
“This year, my family chose Con Dao as a spring tourist destination for the New Year. Our first stop was to visit the cemetery. I also tell my children about the heroes who sacrificed on this sacred land to give the nation beautiful spring seasons", said Nguyen Thi Hoang Oanh (a tourist from Tay Ninh).
Besides visiting and wishing to relatives and friends at Tet, visiting historical relics also brings meaningful experiences. Because, in addition to spirituality, this also has the effect of educating the younger generation to be grateful to the predecessors, demonstrating the tradition and morality of "When you eat a fruit, think of the man who planted the tree" of the nation - Ms. Cao Minh Hue, tourist from Hanoi.
The Year of the Water Cat 2023 is the first year that the National Monument Conservation Center of Con Dao is open to visitors to visit Con Dao museum, Monument of the Lord's island and the official residence from 7 pm - 10 pm starting from December 28th to January 9th on lunar calendar.
In particular, at the campus of Con Dao Museum, the Tet space in the olden time is decorated to recreate the customs and practices of the traditional Tet holiday of Vietnamese people with calligraphy booths, apricot flower gardens, confetti flowers, mascots representing the year of the Water Cat. In addition to visiting and learning about history, people and visitors can also enjoy taking pictures and keeping beautiful moments with relatives, family and friends at the beginning of the new year.
Nguyen Anh Hieu (a student of Le Hong Phong Secondary School, Con Dao District) shared "On the occasion of Tet, we visited the museum with our teacher to learn about the history of Con Dao. We are also very excited to experience the ancient Tet space and the traditional cultural beauty of the nation during Tet holidays."

Attracting thousands of visitors
According to Con Dao National Monument Conservation Center, on the occasion of this year's Tet holiday, Hang Duong cemetery and historical sites welcome and serve from 2,000-3,000 turns of people and tourists to visit, and offer incense everyday.
Mrs. Pham Thi Tam, Director of Con Dao National Monument Conservation Center, said that on the occasion of this year's Tet holiday, the new point of the Center is open in the evening to serve the cultural enjoyment needs of the people and visitors. To ensure the service of people and visitors during Tet, the Center embellished the landscape, planted 4,000 flower pots to decorate at Hang Duong cemetery, Temple, relics and Con Dao museum.
In addition, Con Dao Museum displays more than 70 images introducing the Tet holiday of Vietnamese people and the land, people, culture and tourism characteristics of Con Dao with the theme "Spring colors in Con Dao homeland" and "For the green island with blue sea - Preserving for posterity" to create a fresh, colorful space to attract tourists.
