NA Chairwoman works with Con Dao island district

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and the NA delegation held a working session with leaders of Con Dao Island District in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on July 15.

According a report of the Con Dao District Party Committee, in the first six months of 2017, almost all economic indicators of the district reached or exceeded 50% of the year’s plan; in particular, tourism revenue reached nearly 66% of the plan (more than VND534 billion). Among more than 109,000 tourist arrivals, international tourist to Con Dao accounted for about 16%. State budget revenues in the district reached nearly 61% of the year’s plan.

The road and waterway systems have been basically completed. The district has also made the protection and care of people’s health a priority, especially mothers and children; ensuring the implementation of social security for policy beneficiaries, and disadvantaged people.

NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan spoke highly of efforts made by the administration and people of Con Dao over the past time in boosting socio-economic development, as well as building a strong political system.

The NA Chairwoman also expressed her delight as Con Dao is maintaining a clean environment with a large forest coverage as well as promoting the value of Con Dao as a national historic site.

Con Dao has devised effective measures to develop tourism with the increasing number of visitors, she noted.

The NA Chairwoman said she would transfer the district’s proposal of upgrading Co Ong airport to the Ministry of Transport in order to better serve local tourism development.

The same day, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan paid a visit to a number of historic relic sites in the district.
