On 16/01/2018, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Department of Tourism held a conference to summarize the work in 2017 and deploy the task in 2018. Attending the conference were: Mr.Nguyen Thanh Long, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; Tran Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Leaders of Vung Tau City, Long Dien District, Dat Do District, Xuyen Moc District, Con Dao, the Cultural and Information Divisions, Con Dao National Park Management Board, Management Board of the tourist areas of districts and cities. Executive Committee of Tourism Association of Ba Ria - Vung Tau; Center for Information and Tourism Promotion, specialized Divisions of the Department.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long - Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee and Mr. Trinh Hang - Director of the Department of Tourism awarded the certificate of merit of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to the units with excellent achievements.

Reported at the conference, Mr. Trinh Hang, director of the Department of Tourism said that in 2017, Ba Ria - Vung Tau serve 2.79 million visitors stay, up 11.3% over 2016, of which 363.000 international visitors, up 14.7%; Revenue from accommodation services reached VND1,781 billion, up 11.6% against 2016. Particularly, Con Dao targets to increase quite impressive, the total number of visitors 2017 increased 46.11% compared with 2016, tourism revenue increased 45.33% compared to 2016.

In 2018, the tourism industry will strive to increase 14% of visitors compared to 2017, with about 3.1 million, of which international visitors are 424.000; Revenue from accommodation services is estimated at about VND2,100 billion.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long - Vice Chairman of the province highly appreciated the achievements of Tourism Department, agencies and units of tourism management achieved in the management and tourism development in 2017. At the same time, request the Department of Tourism continue to effectively implement the tasks, put forward reasonable solutions to promote the provincial development of tourism; strengthening the state management of the tourism environment; promoting tourism promotion; to coordinate with the implementation of training plan on appropriate human resources, coupled with the demand for use, ensuring the quality and quantity and level of the date to be raised to meet the requirements of international integration; ensure safety for tourists.

With the results, on this occasion, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has awarded certificates of merit to two individuals and 6 collectives with excellent achievements in deploying and organizing tourism activities in the province.
