At the 25th anniversary of Con Dao National Park
The Precursor of Con Dao National Park was the Con Dao banned forest, established under the Prime Minister's Decision No. 135 of March 31, 1993. Over 25 years of construction and development, from the initial 55 staff, up to date Con Dao National Park has 111 employees. At present, the park is managing the natural area of nearly 20,000 ha; consisting of two forest and marine conservation components. In the past time, the generations of staffs and workers of the unit have overcome all difficulties, efforts to preserve the forest resources, marine, biodiversity, successful implementation of many work programs. In particular, the protection of forest and marine resources. 12 teams, ranger stations distributed throughout the island district have done well tasks of forest protection, protection of marine biodiversity. Over the years, Con Dao has not had any forest destruction or forest fire. The situation of security and social security in the area has been maintained.
In addition, the Marine Turtle Rescue Project (WWF) is supported by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF); Since 1995, the Management of Con Dao National Park has saved more than 21,000 sea turtle eggs, 1.5 million hatchlings hatched and released to the sea, hatching rate of over 80%, wearing a biometric tracking cardof biological characteristics of more than 2,000 adult turtles. Con Dao National Park was established by the Vietnam National Record Book Center in 2009 as the place where most of Vietnam's turtles breed in nature. Establishing the record is the only place in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is full of ecological forms.
At the same time, Con Dao National Park also has a good program of ecotourism development, environmental education. Last year, the park received 27,000 visitors of ecotourism, exploring the experience of nature and Con Dao sea. At the same time, the park has also provided loans to 57 households with a total of VND2.1 billion from the Project for the poor and fishermen. With many achievements, the People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has awarded certificates of merit, excellent emulation flag for Con Dao National Park. In 2001, the Prime Minister awarded certificates of merit; In 2013, the President awarded Grade III Labor Medal to the staffs and employees of Con Dao National Park Management Board.
On this occasion, Ba Ria - Vung Tau People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 7 individuals and the Management Board of Con Dao National Park awarded certificates of merit to 20 individuals for their contribution to the development of Con Dao National Park in 25 years. (1993 - 2018).
