Con Dao traditional race

On the morning of April 22, 2018 Con Dao district held the opening ceremony of the 13th traditional "race and swimming race" at the Loi Loi monument, attended by Mr. Nguyen Anh Nhut - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee. Organizing the festival, Mr. Nguyen Tan Hoa –Chairman ofCon Dao District Fatherland Frontwith offices, management boards and Con Dao people, visitors to attend the festival. Speaking at the opening ceremony, comrade Nguyen Anh Nhut reviewed the history of "escaping prisoners" of political prisoners, quoting "... in the 1930s and 1936s as a period of political prisoners organizing many escapees. . However, our Party also suffered a lot of losses with many unsuccessful escape trips, broken brigades, wrecked or captured enemy. The core members of the Party such as Ngo Gia Tu, Luong Van Tuan, Nguyen Hoi ..., missed in the sea. In 1953, the prison cell organized for comrades: Tong Van Tran, Nguyen Huu Tien, Ta Uyen crossed the island successfully to reach the Communist Party of Nam Ky.

Next came the February 28, 1952 crossing of the hard-line prisoners in the Department of Stone throughout 31 hours to Dam Doi - Ca Mau ... ". After the opening ceremony, district leaders burn incense and drop flower tribute memorial.

This year, there are 10 participating races, including 10 residential areas, armed forces, workers in the district, each team has 10 athletes. The contestants are connected from bamboo and foam materials, 10 athletes use the lane management more than 2km from Loi Voi to historic pier 914, end of this year's race racetrack team of the No. 1 Residential Area has won the first prize. After the race is a free swimming contest with participation of 09free swimmers, athletes swimming with one km road to the destination.

The history reconstruction of "jail escape" through the sport "Scouting" of Con Dao people today to honor the courageous courage of the Con Dao prisoners, overcome difficulties to try to find a way toward the people, towards the Party, towards the revolution. This sport has been enthusiastically enjoyed by Con Dao people for many years, and is regarded as a traditional sport of the locality in order to raise awareness and preserve traditional values of revolution for junior generations.
