Meeting for organization committee to implement the project of teaching and learning English

The project "Teaching and learning English in Con Dao district from 2015 to 2018" was approved by People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in Decision No. 36 dated 9/9/2015.

Projectobjective is to improve English language levels of teaching, learning and communication skills among teachers and residents in the district to implement the socio-economic development strategy of Con Dao district up to 2020; contributing to construction of Con Dao district into a tourist destination with a friendly image of communication in English with international tourists ... According to the project, from 2016 to 2018, there will be about 1,920 people in Con Dao learning English.

Phase 1, 2016 and 2017, 26 English classes havebeen opened with 305 participants, accounting for 58% of the plan. At the end of the course, 196/305 students met the requirements.

According to organizers, implementation of English teaching project is a great policy to bring many benefits to Con Dao people, contributing to socio-economic development of the locality, especially in the field of tourism. However, implementation of the first phase of the project has encountered many difficulties, obstacles and has not met the target set. In particular, main reason is that learners have different levels of knowledge so that the acquisition of knowledge on the class is uneven, leading to low evaluation results; Many students leave school, leading to difficulty maintaining classrooms; Continuing education and vocational training centers have difficulty in signing contracts with English language teachers;

At the meeting, members of organization committee forproject implemention contributed many ideas for effective implementation of the second phase of project, such as need to implement the project with teaching methods through English communicationclips, club activities, communication with foreigners; expansion of participants to the project is student; recruiting form is voluntary enrollment, not compulsoryas the last time causing to maintenance of class size as well as need of  learning inappropriate for learners.

Summarize the meeting, Mr.Nguyen Anh Nhut - Vice Chairman, Head of Organization Board synthesized the project to allocate Center for Continuing Education and Career Orientation to receive ideas for implementing the second phase of project; to study and advise on the inclusion of a number of objects, including pupils of educational establishments in their respective localities; to increase the time spent on practical communication skills in English according to topics, fields suitable to the level, work and practical needs; Encourage individuals to actually participate in learning English to increase effectiveness of the course; contributing to good performance asproject objectives.
