The tourism of Ba ria - Vung Tau Province: Welcomes over 5 millions toursts

On July 11 2020, in Con Dao district, the Department of Tourism held a conference to review the result of the first 6 months and the plan for the last 6 month of 2020. Representatives of district, town, city and more than 20 tourism enterprises in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province attended.
Reporting at the conference, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism, stated that in the first 6 months of 2020, due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the number of tourists and tourism revenue plummeted. The whole province welcomed more than 5 million visitors, decresed by 33.68% over the same period. Total tourism revenue was estimated at 5,819 billion VND, decreased by 29.61% over the same period.
In the last 6 months, the tourism department continued to monitor the evolution of COVID-19 to timely advise and direct the prevention. At the same time, focusing on tourism demand stimulus, promotion, communication, linkage for tourism market expansion, building new tour routes; tourism career guidance for students; training tourism knowledge for commune / ward staff and tourism industry workers.
At the conference, tourism companies would like to propose the provincial People's Committee to deal with difficulties caused by the COVID-19 epidemic such as: exemption of land rent in the first 6 months for tourism businesses; strengthen the co-operation to promote, stimulate tourism demand to attract tourists in the summer and plan for foreign tourism promotion to get ready for international visitors when the COVID-19 outbreak is well controlled; also, support the companies to improve skills for tour guides, drivers, households.
Also at the conference, under the authorization of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Tourism awarded the Certificate to 19 enterprises and organizations with outstanding achievements in business activities. Department of Tourism also awarded certificates to 30 individuals and 15 teams who made great achievements in the period of 2016-2020
