Call for international businesses’ investment in tourism

On May 5, the provincial People's Committee held a conference to review the "Strategy for Vietnam's Tourism Development by 2020, Vision by 2030" in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province from 2012-2016. Tran Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Dang Minh Thong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; Representatives of departments and more than 100 tourism companies attended the conference.

According to the Department of Tourism, the province has 280 accommodation establishments ranked from standard to 5 star with 11 thousand rooms. Infrastructure and facilities for tourism are invested synchronously, stretching from Vung Tau to Xuyen Moc and Con Dao district. The number of tourists and annual revenue has increased. In the period 2012-2016, the tourism industry reached a total revenue of VND 16,722 billion, total visitors reached 68 million.

However, the tourism industry also revealed the limitations such as tourism planning is not synchronous, lack of vision; The number of visitors is high but the quality of the growth is unsustainable; Tourism products lack special characteristics; Foreign language proficiency of workers are weak; Collaboration in tourism development between state agencies is not close.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Dang Minh Thong asked the Department of Tourism, departments and localities to continue researching solutions to develop sustainable tourism; To intensify the inspection of tourist establishments, resolutely handle serious violations; Inviting experienced and world-class investors to invest in tourism to achieve the goal of bringing the development of BR-VT tourism in the direction of high quality.
