Representatives of tourism businesses at the Prime Minister's meeting with businesses on 17th May, Mr. Tran Hong Viet, General Director of Saigon Tourist has proposed an idea above.

According to Mr Tran Hong Viet, every year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has only 2 million dollars spent on tourism promotion, so promotion is limited. This figure is too low compared to tens of millions of dollars of regional countries such as Thailand, Indonesia ...

"I propose that the Fund will be more contributed by businesses so that the State and people work together to promote Viet Nam tourism " said Tran Hong Viet.

In addition, Mr. Tran Hong Viet proposed to extend time of visa-free for tourists up to 5 years instead of 3 years now. Because this policy create a positive impact on tourism now.

Another worth noting issue is that, according to Mr. Tran Hong Viet, Viet Nam tourism is developing strongly in localities but there is no agreement on tourism development planning which leads to unsustainable development and effect on human resource development planning.

" In Phu Quoc, Kien Giang alone, the number of rooms increased to thousands of rooms each year. While the human resources training for tourism is still lacking. Therefore, I urge the Government to pay attention to the planning of human resources for tourism"said Tran Hong Viet.
