FUN AND EXCITING AT THE LUNAR NEW YEAR 2024 CUISINE CONTEST

On the afternoon of February 19, 2024 (January 10), the Con Dao District Women's Union coordinated with the Con Dao Labor Federation to organize a cuisine contest to celebrate the Vietnam Communist Party and the 2024 Lunar Year on Ton Duc Thang Street, in front of the Island Lord's House relic. Participating in the contest were leaders of District party committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee along with more than 40 competing teams; a large number of officials, soldiers, people from all walks of life in Con Dao district and tourists.

In response to the celebration of the glorious Party and Lunar New Year 2024 held in Con Dao district, the Con Dao District Women's Union coordinated with the Con Dao Labor Federation to organize a cuisine contest, with the participation of more than 40 competing teams from all Women's Associations and grassroots Trade Unions. The contest occurs at 4:00 p.m. February 19, 2024, at Ton Duc Thang Street, Con Dao district.
At the contest, teams showed off their cooking, with a variety of delicious and eye-catching dishes. The women brought 45 different dishes and drinks to the contest. The contest's dishes have traditional flavors from all 3 regions of Vietnam: North - Central – South; and some modern street-style dishes are cooked very beautifully and attractively such as: crab spring rolls, Tay Ho shrimp cakes, stuffed pancake, rice dumpling cake, fishcake, fried chicken wings,... Coming to the contest, the teams showed their ingenuity and creativity in processing and presentation. The dishes and drinks are not only diverse in menu, harmonious in color, beautiful in aesthetics, and delicious in quality but that also ensure food safety.

The cooking competition has received special attention from all women's branches and grassroots unions. The uniqueness and significance of this activity lies in the harmonious combination of traditional and modern culinary culture, which not only welcomes spring for the people but also helps to promote tourism activities in the region. This competition is an opportunity for women from all institutions, units, armed forces, and communities to share their traditional and modern culinary experiences on the first day of the New Year.

After the judges finished scoring, the stalls began selling food to customers using vouchers sold by the Organizing Committee with each voucher worth 20 thousand VND. According to the organizers' assessment, this year the competing teams have demonstrated their cooking skills with delicious, attractive dishes, and delicate and beautiful displays. Therefore, once opened, the stalls attracted thousands of Con Dao residents as well as tourists to visit and enjoy the cuisine.

This is one of the useful activities that not only affirms the ingenuity and housekeeping skills of the island district's women but also brings people and tourists excitement and joy when enjoying delicious dishes. on the first days of the new year.
