"SAVE TURTLES RUN 2023 “- fundraising for sea turtle conservation in Con Dao

 As the 2nd year held in Con Dao, the race is organized with the goal of raising the community and visitors’ awareness of the value and importance of sea turtle conservation. This is also an opportunity for visitors to experience sport activities, and discover Con Dao’s beauty through the running routes of the program.

 The program with the participation of 150 athletes competed in 2 distances of 5km and 15km. Starting from The Secret Con Dao Hotel, the running route of Save Turtles Run passes through the famous historical sites of Con Dao such as Con Dao prison relics, Hang Keo cemetery, 914 pier, Quang Trung lake - the largest lake in Con Dao, the relic trees and beautiful beaches.

Con Dao Sea Turtle Conservation Fundraising Run was launched by The Secret Con Dao Hotel in early July through online and face-to-face running. For every kilometer completed, The Secret Con Dao Hotel contributes VND 1,000 to Con Dao National Park's sea turtle conservation fund. In addition, when athletes buy rooms and pay fees to participate in the live race on the morning of August 20th, The Secret Con Dao Hotel also deducts revenue of 100,000 VND/athlete to contribute to the sea turtle conservation fund.

A representative of The Secret Con Dao said that the total amount extracted in this running tournament is more than 130 million VND. Immediately after the end of the tournament, all money was given to representatives of Con Dao National Park to serve the conservation of sea turtles.

Sea turtles are rare, endangered animals globally. In Vietnam, Con Dao National Park is the first to join the Indo-Southeast Asia Sea Turtle Conservation Network as its 11th member, meanwhile, Con Dao is the place with the largest number of sea turtles nesting and breeding in Vietnam.
