According to the Ha Noi Department of Information and Communications, Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung mentioned this plan during a recent conference on intelligent transportation in the capital.
Earlier, during the celebration of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long - Ha Noi in 2010, the project of offering free Wi-Fi services in some places around Hoan Kiem lake did not get approval from relevant agencies.
Currently, the Hanoi Transport & Services Corporation (Transerco) has piloted the installation of devices to provide free Wi-Fi on bus routes No.86 from the Hanoi Railway Station to the Noi Bai International Airport, route No.11 from the Thong Nhat park to the University of Agriculture and route No.12 from the Nghia Do park to Dai Ang. In the coming time, all buses in Ha Noi will have free internet services.
On February 10th last year, the My Dinh station in Nam Tu Liem District was the first location in the capital providing this service for passengers.
While the Southern hub Ho Chi Minh City also plans to develop the same services to corners of the locality in the near future.
So far, big cities such as Hoi An, Hue, Da Nang, Hai Phong and Ha Long have offered free Wi-Fi services in public places for tourism./.
