Government of Con Dao district organizes a walk to celebrate 70th anniversary of Vietnam’s War Invalids and Martyrs Day

According to the plan of celebrating 70th anniversary of Vietnam’s War Invalids and Martyrs Day (27/7/1947 – 27/7/2017), the Department of Home Affairs, Labor, War Invalids and Martyrs organized a brisk walking with the theme called "Gratitude" in the morning of 22th July.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Nhut - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Con Dao district gave the opening speech of brisk walking.

The brisk walking was held with the theme of "Gratitude" for marking the 70th anniversary of Vietnam’s War Invalids and martyrs day. Mr. Le Van Duc - Deputy Secretary Standing Committee of Con Dao district; Nguyen Anh Nhut - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Con Dao district  along with nearly 140 athletes who are elderly people, wounded soldiers, martyrs' families, people with meritorious services to the country and cadres, civil servants in the district attended the walk.

On behalf of the district leaders, Mr. Nguyen Anh Nhut made the opening speech of the "Gratitude" Walk on the 70th anniversary of Vietnam’s War Invalids and martyrs day. After the Opening Ceremony, the participating athletes are divided into 3 groups to compete: the group of people over 60 years old; Group of families under preferential treatment policy; Young people, cadres, workers … in the district. The athletes will walk quickly with a distance of 300m to reach the finish. There were 30 awards given to athletes with the first, second, third and consolation prizes at the end of the brisk walk.

 

The brisk walk with the theme of "Gratitude" is to demonstrate the principle of "drinking water remember the source", "repay the elders" of today's generation for their sacrifice for the country. At the same time, this is an opportunity for perons or families under preferential treatment policy, officials, civil servants, employees to participate in group activities, social activities, physical and spiritual training.
