A total of 9.11 million passengers arrived at Vietnamese airports in July, up 12.2% over the same period of 2016, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Of the number, international arrivals accounted for 2.34 million, up 2.1% and domestic visitors at 6.77 million, up 16.2% over the same period last year.

According to a previous report by CAAV, during the first six months of the year, the aviation market continued to a show high growth rate, serving 30.3 million visitors, an increase of 19.5% over the same period in 2016.

Passengers travelling through airports in Vietnam reached 46.3 million, up 17.5% and the transportation volume of Vietnamese airlines reached 21.8 million passengers, up 15.1%.

In total, from the beginning of this year, the overall output of passengers through Vietnam's airports and airfields reached 55.41 million.

The Vietnamese aviation transport market has involved the participation of 63 foreign airlines, from 25 different countries and territories, operating regular international flights to Vietnam.

Foreign airlines and three Vietnamese airlines, including national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Jetstar Pacific Airlines, operate 105 international flight routes to and from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Hai Phong.

In the domestic market, Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific Airlines and Vasco are currently operating 52 domestic routes connecting Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City with 18 local airports throughout the country.

In addition to routine operations, Vietnamese and foreign airlines will also be increasing their international charter flights from/to Can Tho, Da Lat and Vinh, as well as Dong Hoi and Thanh Hoa in the near future.

Recently, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has implemented a number of comprehensive solutions to improve the capacity of Vietnam’s airport infrastructure system, especially Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat and Da Nang International Airports.

ACV has invested heavily in upgrading and expanding airport infrastructure, such as airport parking and functional areas at international and domestic terminals at Tan Son International Airport, as well as passenger equipment, signs and information systems at Noi Bai, Da Nang, Phu Quoc and Con Dao airports.

In addition, ACV has also strengthened the inspection and supervision of service quality assurance, while increasing human resources and equipment, especially during the peak 2017 summer season.

To ensure their service quality, airlines have deployed numerous solutions to improve, maintain and increase the rate of flight punctuality, especially technical measures to ensure aircraft operations and limit flight delays and cancelations due to technical reasons.

Currently, service quality assessment collected through surveys and opinion polls has improved positively compared to 2016.
