Con Dao Pedestrianised Street Organization

Con Dao government is now considered an attractive tourist destination. Con Dao welcomed 167,000 visitors last year. The orientation of Resolution No. 08-NQ/TW of the Politburo on "To develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector” and Decision No. 870/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister approving the master plan on development of Con Dao National Park make Con Dao more develop in tourism and welcome more visitors. To meet that demand, tourism products must be gradually developed. Products, services of night travel of are very poor, not diversified mainly coffee, food ... To develop more tourism products and create a highlight for visitors, the district People's Committee has advocated the organization of "Con Dao walking street ".

On the morning of 26th May 2017, the district People's Committee had a working session with the representative of Kien Minh Consulting Design and Construction Co., Ltd. (the company was invited to design consultancy "Con Dao Walking area"). Kien Minh Company presented the design options for the "pedestrian walkway" for comments at the meeting. After the meeting the Company also noted the design comments from the leaders of the district to revise and improve the design. It is estimated that the length of the pedestrian area is about 500m and is divided into several zones to create a variety of walking street types such as children's play area, shopping area, street art area, souvenir shops area ..., open time is at night.

Chairman of the meeting, Vice chairman of the District People's Committee Nguyen Anh Nhut assigned the Management Board of tourism areas to coordinate design units to collect comments and soon complete the design of walking area. They have to pay attention to environmental sanitation, security and parking spaces, create more light, create a highlight for tourists to take photos. In particular, public toilets should be designed underneath the ground, modern and in harmony with the environment.

The "Con Dao Walking area" will be organized and put into operation soon. This will be an amusement park for Con Dao residents and attract visitors to visit, relax and enjoy art ... It also contribute to diversify local tourism products and create a highlight for Con Dao.
