Building Con Dao becomes the National Tourism Park, an attractive and ideal destination.

The Prime Minister issued Decision No. 870/QD-TTg to approve " The overall plan on development of Con Dao national tourism resort by 2030 '' on 17th June 2015. According to the plan, the region will become the national tourism park belongs to Con Dao district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, including 16 islands with the total floating land area of ??about 75,15km2 and total water surface area from Con Dao inland waterway boundary of ??about 14,000 km2.

The area of the region expected to become the National Tourism Park is ??1,000 hectares. From Ba Ria Vung Tau province’s point of view, development  this park has to base on rational exploitation  strong points of marine and forest resources of Con Dao National Forest and bring into play the values of Con Dao Nation’s special historic relic. The priority is given to develop eco-tourism, luxury resort, cultural - history – spiritual tourism and concurrently these have to link to international markets and enhance competitiveness with other home and foreign islands; create premises and impetus other manufacturing industries and services, attracting the participation of residents on the island; establish the cohesion with Vung Tau city, Long Hai - Phuoc Hai national tourism area and other significant tourism potentials of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in the tight linkage with Ho Chi Minh City and entire Southeast region; Development Con Dao national tourism park to overcome seasonality in local tourism activities; simultaneously, this is also link development of tourism with the mission of preserving and promoting historic ??– cultural values, protecting landscape, environment, ensuring national defense and security; contributing to restructuring local economy by increasing the proportion of services - tourism.

By 2020, to arm the goal which Con Dao can basically meet criteria of a national tourist park. By 2030, Con Dao became a marine, ecology and culture - history - spiritual resort with superior quality in the Southeast Asia region and worldwide. This has a synchronous and modern facilities systems, branded tourism products with high competitiveness, bears traditional cultural characteristics associated with promoting values ??of Con Dao especially national historic relic; and prepare necessary conditions to become a tourism city.

By 2020, to arm the goal which Con Dao will welcome over 180,000 visitors, by 2030 this island will welcome about 300,000 tourists, including 120,000 foreign tourists accounted for 40% of total tourists; Striving to obtain a total of revenue from tourists of about 1,200 billion in 2020 and approximately 2,800 billion in 2030. By 2020, there will provide more than 1,000 hotel rooms and 1,800 other rooms in 2030. This sector can create about 2,500 jobs in 2020 and approximately 8,000 jobs in 2030.

Con Dao National Tourist Resort will focus on exploiting market of resort, cultural – spiritual tourism, educating tradition - history - revolution; visitors come from cities, major tourist centers such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Da Nang. Focusing to attract international visitors from Japan, Korea, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand; some countries in Southeast Asia such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia; extend the market into Western Europe, Northern Europe and Russia; arm to high-spending tourists, long-stay and resort market segment, exploring nature.

To orient for development of tourism products, improve accessibility Con Dao resort in both air and sea by upgrading Con Dao airport, opening more domestic and international direct flights, upgrading port and frequency of transport. Improving the quality of the infrastructure system, tourism services. Priority for premium accommodation projects from 4 stars or higher. Improving the quality of transport services, public toilets, services of support information for tourists and utilities of ensuring environmental quality, security and safety for tourists.

The subdivisions  of Con Dao tourism park include the center of Con Son Town; French Quarter in Con Son town; historical - cultural – spiritual area; Ben Dam Port; unspoiled coastline;  other coastline; Con Dao mountainous areas and the system of small islands.

To help Con Dao Park become an attractive tourist destination for visitors, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province determined to improve investment environment and innovation investment promotion activities are the pivotal, innovative and critical  tasks in the current period. Committees, authorities of Con Dao district  stepped up and still continue to implement measures on plan, building investment promotion programs to attract large-scale investments; Inviting investment; building brand for Con Dao island; strengthening cooperation and joint for development; effectively mobilizing all resources to invest in upgrading infrastructure system of  this national tourist zones in order to create the most favorable conditions for domestic and foreign businesses investing and trading  on this island.
